Brian bartels
Treasurer

Brian Bartels is a native Floridian and lifelong resident of Palm Beach County. He earned a B.S. in Forest Resources & Conservation from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Currently, Brian works as an Environmental Specialist for NextEra Energy Resources and supports the company’s siting and permitting of renewable energy projects including wind and solar. Prior to this he worked as a Field Organizer for the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2016.Brian first became involved in politics by interning with Congresswoman Lois Frankel and has continued to stay engaged by volunteering on multiple state and local campaigns. Brian has served as Membership Chair of the North County Democratic Club since 2017 and is looking forward to serving the PBCYDs as Treasurer.

Thomas Valeo

President

Tom is a West Palm Beach native who graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2016 after studying political science and sociology. While in college, Tom served as an Executive Board member for several student based organizations. During this time, he also worked as a music director at his local church. For the past four years, Tom has worked in the Florida Legislature. Through his experiences, Tom has learned that listening and having conversations with stakeholders and community activists are the best way to make meaningful changes in our communities.

Jess Diehr

Vice President

Jess has been active in Florida Democratic politics since moving back to the state in 2013. Having served on several executive boards, including the College Democrats of Florida Atlantic University, as well as joining and supporting several issues-based organizations in the county and state, she has devoted several years and election cycles to helping Democrats get elected. Jess has a deep passion and commitment to engaging young voters to move Florida and the country forward, while making sure that institutions and organizations adapt to the values and communication styles of the new largest electorate.

Catherine Theriault

Secretary

Originally from Québec, Catherine fell in love with Florida politics during the 2012 Presidential Election and has been committed to flipping Florida Blue ever since. She’s fueled by her passion for data-driven campaigns and belief that building the bench for the next generation has never been more important. Catherine has been fortunate enough to serve on the board of several political organizations. She’s worn various hats on campaigns, including serving as Lori Berman’s Finance Director in 2018 and was a Hillary Delegate to the 2016 Democratic National Convention. She holds a master’s in political science from Florida Atlantic University. Since graduation, Catherine has worked as the Deputy Analytics Director for the Florida Democratic Party. 

Sarah Pariseau

Community Outreach

Sarah is originally from the State of Vermont but has called herself a Floridian for the past 20 years. She is a two-time alumna from Florida State University, with an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Communication/ Media Studies and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy. During her time at FSU, Sarah served on various executive boards, founded the Collegiate League of Women Voters chapter on campus, and was President of ‘Noles for Hillary’ while serving as the collegiate and regional lead for the 2016 Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign. Today, she currently serves as a Legislative Assistant to a State Representative within the Florida House.
